Rory McIlroy needed just one start to capture his first win in the young 2022 season and put the rest of the PGA TOUR on notice with a victory at The CJ Cup. The win this past weekend was his 20th PGA TOUR victory, making him only the 39th golfer to accomplish such a feat. He joins all-time greats like Greg Norman and Hale Irwin in a tie for 35th on the all-time win list.
McIlroy effectively sealed his victory when he sank a nearly 40-foot eagle putt from off the green on No. 14 to move to 6-under-par for the day and 25-under-par for the tournament. He was then able to cruise home with pars on the final three holes to a victory that was more comfortable than the one-stroke winning margin might suggest.
On the greens, McIlroy relied on SuperStroke’s Pistol GT Tour putter grip. The Pistol GT™ Series is a modern take on a beloved classic. The grip merges a pistol-style top section that helps golfers lock in their upper hand position with “No Taper Technology” to help golfers maintain even grip pressure and boost the consistency of their stroke. All three sizes offer Traxion™ Control, Sypne Technology, and Tech-Port to enhance feel, alignment, and back-weighting options.
It wasn’t just McIlroy who relied on the brand’s grips to deliver stellar performances as five of the top 10 relied on SuperStroke grips over the weekend. In addition, SuperStroke ambassador Jordan Spieth finished inside the top 25, posting scores of 18-under-par and 17-under-par respectively.
In addition to the company’s leading putter grips, Spieth uses the SuperStroke S-Tech club grips.
Designed for golfers who demand the ultimate in feedback and control, the S-Tech club grip is constructed using a premium engineered rubber compound that provides just the right amount of softness and tack. The added Cross-Traction surface texture offers incredible non-slip performance in all weather conditions.
